In a recent effort to give back to the community, Backcountry Experience, in a simple, surprising, and heartwarming manner, gave to two young men from Cortez, CO.
These two young men have been awarded scholarships to attend the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) in Wyoming this summer. The owner and staff at Backcountry Experience were incredibly supportive of the young men and treated them as if they were some of their most important customers. These young men are students at Southwest Open School (SWOS) in Cortez and would not be able to afford the financial requirements of their NOLS trip without their scholarships and community donations. As one of their teachers, I am still enamored with the leader of this business from his kind acts of contributing to their community. To Ben at Backcountry Experience, your kindness and community awareness is impressive.

When shopping for a backpack I went into your store several times...every time was comfortable and the service was great ,but they couldn't fit me with a backpack. They suggested I come in when the owner was in because he could fit anyone with a backpack. I did and they were right he fitted me with the best Pack I have ever had! now for the important part...it was an Osprey and at the time I could have gotten 50% off an Osprey pack through a friend. I decided not to use the coupon and get the pack from you! why...because of the extra time you took to get me fitted...it wasn't about making a sale for you guys it was about making sure I was comfortable and safe out in the Backcountry!

Great customer service!
I contacted Osprey Packs to find a dealer who could help me with the fit of my Luna backpack and they recommended Backcountry Experience. I live in Bloomfield, NM and drove up yesterday to get the pack adjusted.
At the store, I dealt with Laura who did the fitting. She spent a lot of time explaining what she was doing and why, plus making sure that everything was right. She really was efficient knew a lot about the various adjustments that could be made with the pack.
Because of all of Laura's excellent help and attitude, I ended up buying about $200 more gear than the cost of the new moldable hip belt for the Luna. And, instead of shopping primarily online for gear, I'll be back to BCEXP plus reccommend the shop to friends. I love the excellent help and the lack of "attitude" and this was a great experience.

This is awesome. I'll definitely bookmark this. Love being able to 'tour the store' and also the coupons and specials.
