What is the True Western Roundup?

The True Western Roundup takes place every summer season at the La Plata County Fairground in the heart of Durango, Colorado. If you have never attended a rodeo event, this is the one to see! Get up close to all of the action and watch: saddle bronc riding, ranch bronc riding, breakaway roping, mutton bustin’, steer riding, barrel racing, team roping and bull riding. The True Western Roundup in Durango began in 2014 and has become one of the staple events of the summer season.

If you are planning to visit Durango, Colorado this summer and would love to catch a rodeo, or you’re a local who just wants to be a part of the action, you can buy your tickets early online! Adults 18 and over are $15, youth from 5-17 are $10, children 4 and under are FREE, seniors over 65 are $10 and military veterans are $10. Gates open at 5PM and the rodeo starts at 6:30PM so advice from the wise is to plan ahead! The rodeo goes on rain or shine and while there is covered seating at the fairgrounds, it tends to fill up quickly. The True Western Roundup in Durango happens every Wednesday from June through the end of August.
