Introduction

Pure Skin Holistic School (hereinafter referred to as the School) offers the finest technology and equipment for student training and is staffed with a qualified, approved instructor.

The School is owned by Tina Marie Valles of Durango, Colorado. The officer of the school is Tina Marie Valles.

Occupational Objective: The graduate should be able to acquire an entry-level position in Esthetics working at a Salon, Day Spa, Resort, Medical Spa, Company Rep, Makeup Artist, Sales, Cruise Ship, Mobile Esthetician, Self Employed, Mobile Esthetician

Full time Students: Monday through Friday 9:00am – 3:30pm with one hour lunch break

Some Saturdays allowed for make-up: 10:00am – Noon

 

Part-Time Students: Monday through Friday 6:00pm – 9:30pm.

Some Saturdays allowed for make-up: 10:00am – Noon

 

Class schedule is flexible and other days/times can be arranged to meet student's needs.

Program not to exceed: Esthetician 8 months.

 

When an unexpected closure occurs due to extraordinary conditions such as inclement weather, students will be notified as soon as possible by phone and/or radio, and/or TV who provide closure information as a public service. Classes are not held on the following holidays:

New Year’s Day Thanksgiving Day & the Friday following

Memorial Day Christmas Eve

ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS

The school does not discriminate based on sex, race, religion, ethnic origin, or disability.

 

ENROLLMENT

Esthetician Program: New student sign ups and payments are accepted when previous students have graduated. New classes start when the previous classes have ended. Late enrollments will be accepted only one week into the course.

 

POSTPONEMENT of START DATE

Postponement of a starting date, whether at the request of the school or the student, requires a written agreement signed by the student and the school. The agreement must set forth:

a. Whether the postponement is for the convenience of the school or the student,

and;

b. A deadline for the new start date, beyond which the start date will not be

postponed.

 

If the course is not commenced, or the student fails to attend by the new start date set forth in the agreement, the student will be entitled to an appropriate refund of prepaid tuition and fees within 30 days of the deadline of the new start date set forth in the agreement, determined in accordance with the school's refund policy and all applicable laws and rules concerning the Private Occupational Education Act of 1981.

 

PLACEMENT ASSISTANCE

Pure Skin Holistic School offers employment assistance to graduates, consisting of job lead referrals and job skills development. While assisting in your job search, we make no guarantee, expressed or implied, of future employment. Current law prohibits any school from guaranteeing job placement as an inducement to enroll students.

 

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS

Students are expected to arrive on time for class with proper materials. An overall attendance rate of at least 85% is required. Instructors may request your withdrawal from a course or program if absences or tardiness exceed 70%.

 

PROGRESS POLICY

Students must maintain an 85% grade point average. Those who do not will be placed on probation for 30 days. During the probation period students must raise their grade average to passing or higher. The student may be terminated if grades are not satisfactory at the end of the probationary period. Termination shall be at the school Director's discretion. The Director has final authority and shall notify the student of the final decision.

GRADING SYSTEM

GRADING PROCEDURES: Students are assigned academic learning units and a minimum number of practical experiences required for course completion. Academic learning is evaluated after each unit of study. Practical skills learning is evaluated as completed and counted toward course completion only when rated as satisfactory or better. Practical skills are evaluated according to text procedures as set forth in the Practical Skills Competency Evaluation Criteria. Students must maintain a written grade average of 75 percent and pass a final written and practical exam prior to graduation. Students must make up failed or missed tests and incomplete assignments. Numerical grades are considered according to the following scale:

93 – 100 = A Excellent

85 – 92 = B Very good

75 – 84 = C Satisfactory

70 – 74 = D Needs Improvement

 

CONDUCT POLICY

All students are expected to act maturely and are required to respect other students and faculty members. Possession of weapons, illegal drugs, and alcohol of any kind are not allowed at any time on school property. Any violation of school policies may result in permanent dismissal from school.

 

DISMISSAL

Any student may be dismissed for violations of rules and regulations of the school, as set forth in school publications. A student also may be withdrawn from classes if he or she does not prepare sufficiently, neglects assignments, or makes unsatisfactory progress. The Director, after consultation with all parties involved, makes the final decision.

 

The Director of Education may temporarily suspend students whose conduct is disruptive or unacceptable to the academic setting. After appropriate counseling, students may be allowed to resume attendance. The Director will review each case and decide upon re-admittance.

 

FACILITIES

The school is located at 101 W 9th St, Ste 5, Durango CO 81301. Our classrooms are furnished with modern equipment. Computer, DVD's, and various books to enhance classroom activities are available. Career assistance is available to students incl. field trip to local businesses potentially hiring estheticians.

Students will receive lots of hands on training and practice their skills in realistic work situations during student clinics. There will be field trips to State Beauty Supply a wholesale salon & beauty supply distributor & health food stores to get to know all the natural skin care lines.

 

EDUCATIONAL SERVICES

 

600 Hour Esthetician Licensure Program

The 600 Hour Esthetician Licensure Program combines the best in Traditional and Natural & Holistic Skincare techniques. Our program will prepare the student to take the State Board Exams and become a licensed Esthetician in Colorado. All our products used at the School are Natural and 70-80% Organic.

Tuition: $ 6,500 + Books, Supplies, and Equipment.

Books, Supplies and Equipment are nonrefundable.

The 600 hour Esthetician Licensure Program can be completed in 4-5 months (full time)

or 6-8 months (part time)

The program hours are divided into the following segments:

1. Lab, 450 hours

2. Theory, 150 hours

Lab, 450 Hours

In these courses the student will learn and practice an array of topics that include: Facial Treatments, Skin Analysis, Facial Massage, Disinfection, Sanitation, Hair Removal, Make-up, State Board Preparation, Body Treatments, Nutrition, Aromatherapy, The Lymphatic System, Product Knowledge, Retailing, Career Planning, and How to Recommend Products.

An important part of learning is hands-on practice with many different skin types and conditions – with the direct supervision from a licensed Esthetician. We have a Student Clinic for students to practice with clients from the local community and have an instructor supervising during the practice.

Theory, 150 Hours

Theory classes are a combination of In Class Lectures, Chapter Tests and Webinars.

Topics covered, but not limited to, are:

Anatomy, Physiology, and Chemistry – all related to skincare. Disinfection, Sanitation, Sterilization, Cleaning, Safe Work Practices, State Rules & Regulations, FDA Laws, Microbiology, Bacteriology, Virology, OSHA Compliance, and State Board Preperation

PREVIOUS CREDITS

Credits from another institution will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Pure Skin Holistic School does not guarantee transferability of our credits to another institution unless there is a written agreement with another institution.

 

STUDENT GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE

If any student has a grievance/complaint the student shall first set up an appointment with the School Director to find a resolution. In the event the student does not want to meet, a written letter given to the School Director or mailed to the school address is acceptable. Once the Director has read the grievance/complaint, the Director will schedule a meeting amongst all concerned parties to try to come to a written resolution.

 

STUDENT COMPLAINTS

Attempting to resolve any issue with the School first is strongly encouraged. Student complaints may be brought to the attention of the Division of Private Occupational Schools online at http://highered.colorado.gov/dpos (303) 862-3001. There is a two-year statute of limitations for the Division to take action on a student complaint (from student's last day of attendance).

 

MAKE UP HOURS

4 hours are covered in the Tuition. If these hours are exceeded there will be a $50 charge per hour. This cost can be split between 2 students at School Director's discretion.

REFUND POLICY

Students not accepted to the school are entitled to all moneys paid. Students who cancel this contract by notifying the school within three (3) business days are entitled to a full refund of all tuition and fees paid. Students, who withdraw after three (3) business days, but before commencement of classes, are entitled to a full refund of all tuition and fees paid except the maximum cancellation charge of $150.00 or 25% of the contract price, whichever is less. In the case of students withdrawing after commencement of classes, the school will retain a cancellation charge plus a percentage of tuition and fees, which is based on the percentage of contact hours attended, as described in the table below. The refund is based on the last day of recorded attendance.

  1. The student may cancel this contract at any time prior to midnight of the third business day after signing this contract.

 

  1. All refunds will be made within 30 days from the date of termination. The official date of termination or withdrawal of a student shall be determined in the following manner:

    1. The date on which the school receives written notice of the student’s intention to discontinue the training program; or

    2. The date on which the student violates published school policy, which provides for termination.

    3. Should a student fail to return from an excused leave of absence, the effective date of termination for a student on an extended leave of absence or a leave of absence is the earlier of the date the school determines the student is not returning or the day following the expected return date.

 

  1. The student will receive a full refund of tuition and fees paid if the school discontinues a Program/Stand Alone course within a period of time a student could have reasonably completed it, except that this provision shall not apply in the event the school ceases operation.

  2. The policy for granting credit for previous training shall not impact the refund policy.

Prospective students must have a high school diploma or equivalency diploma to be accepted for enrollment. If applicants are beyond the age of compulsory school attendance in Colorado and do not possess a diploma or equivalency diploma, they may complete an ability to benefit test. The school does not administer the test, but will provide information on availability when requested.
