Advocating for La Plata Youth
La Plata Youth Services provides resources and individualized support for youth in Bayfield, Durango, and Ignacio who struggle with problems in court, at school, or at home with the goal of keeping youth out of the juvenile justice system. Each family receives specialized attention with the goal of each youth engaging positively in their community.
Services include screening, advocacy, case management, mentorship, restorative justice, substance abuse education, summer programs, and useful public service opportunities at a variety of institutions. La Plata Youth Services has a partnership with Durango 9-R School District for expelled and at-risk students and also serves as the backbone agency for the La Plata County Collaborative Management Program.
