Upscale Italian Cuisine, indoors or out!
Yes, Virginia, Durango does have (one) authentic, upscale, sit-down, Italian dining establishment, complete with a happenin’ bar & lounge area; both roomy and comfy, and an outdoor patio to boot! Mutu’s Italian Kitchen is pleasing to the ear, eye and the palate.
Desperately seeking a romantic night out with all the components for a stunning evening? Hand in hand, saunter one block off the main drag, (heading east) and you’ll find a place where ambience and mouth-watering cuisine unite.
Hold on! This may sound expensive, but, don't worry, it doesn’t have to be! In fact, even Anthony Bourdain would be hard pressed to find a place where a couple can relax outside in the fresh mountain air, listen to music, sip a glass of house wine, and experience succulent Italian fare for $20 a piece including the tip. Be sure to ask what the chef-prepared special-of-the-day is.
An extensive menu, where even the names of the entrees are much more than a mouthful, with delicacies like Veal Osso Bucco, Pork Tenderloin Agrodolce, and Cappellini Della Chef (the last two being Chef favorites). There are scrumptious appetizers ranging from $7 to $10 and of course there are the beloved Italian favorites like Calamari, Linguini, Lasagna, as well as, “the local fav” Cheese Tortellini topped with chicken, veggies and a remarkable sauce! And, there’s wine, lots of wine! At least 70 of them!
Craving seafood? Who says Colorado can’t serve up fresh seafood, and not just the river and lake variety. You haven’t lived until you try Mutu’s signature dish: Rock Shrimp & Lobster Ravioli, which, by the way, won the “Taste of Durango - Best Entrée Award” a few years back. Also scoring high is the Pistachio Crusted Halibut and the Lemon Shrimp Scampi.
The word is out, so get to Mutu’s early because it is hoppin’, day and night! Lunch is served from 11 - 2, Happy Hour from 4 - 6:30, and Dinner starts at 5.
