Toh-Atin Gallery in Durango, Colorado has offered the finest in Native American & Southwestern Art since 1957. In the 1950's, when Jackson Clark Sr. initially began to trade for rugs with different trading posts on the Northern Navajo Reservation, Navajo rugs were not considered the art form they are now known to be. As Jackson Sr. diligently developed his growing reputation as a fair & honest businessman, weavers began coming to Durango to sell their rugs directly to Clark.

It wasn't long before the Clark family began to search out the most gifted Native American artists in the Southwest, & the gallery has since evolved into a showplace for indigenous art; featuring pueblo pottery, kachina dolls, jewelry by gifted metal-smiths, hand-woven baskets & original paintings. They eventually added works by award-winning, non-native artists who impactingly project the stunning visual images of the Southwest.

Over the years, the Clark family has sharpened their expertise & have rightfully earned a reputation as experts in Navajo weaving. Toh-Atin Gallery still specializes in weavings, both antique & contemporary, including museum quality pieces. The gallery also carries impressively detailed beadwork, silver & gold jewelry, bronzes, & unique pieces of hand-crafted furniture that can be found only in their showrooms. Today, the gallery is one of the most visually appealing demonstrations of thoughtful planning, care & intelligent design. Knowledgeable use of space allows the display of thousands of delightfully storied works of art, & their emphasis is on sharing these beautiful works & their stories with their clients.

Toh-Atin offers affordably priced gifts for friends & family, from three-dollar packs of secret recipe chili made by the Candeleria family of Durango, to the finest examples of care & pride demonstrated in a physical form. They carry works by the region's most accomplished masters as well as the most outstanding, up-&-coming new talents. There is something for everyone who is interested in the beauty & culture of this great indigenous nation, & specifically our beautiful, humble, 4-Corners area of this abundant planet Earth.

Toh-Atin Gallery Is a place to browse, to learn, & to enjoy the beauty of the Southwest.

From the Clark family to You: We are often asked what the name of the gallery means. "Toh-Atin is a Navajo word that means, "No Water". The gallery was named in honor of a group of weavers who lived in the shadow of Toh-Atin Mesa, on the northern edge of the Navajo Nation. We invite you to stop in & browse at your leisure. We'd be happy to send a meaningful part of this beautiful country home with you, perhaps some aromatic & healing pinon salve, or a playful fawn metalwork.
