The Weekender // August 24th - 26th, 2018
As summer slowly ends, Durango’s weekends keep popping with events that you can’t miss. We’ve highlighted some of the biggest and brightest things going on this weekend, all the way from live music to beer fests, so that you can stay in the know and have a Durango-filled weekend.
Grassroots, Grub, and Beer
Start the weekend off right by heading to 11th Street Station, where you’re sure to grab some amazing local grub, beer, and even maybe win some giveaways. Music starts at 5:00pm with Baracutanga from New Mexico, and continues with more local-loved bands like Farmington Hill and Afrobeatniks. Tickets are only $15, which you can get online or at the door for a giveaway ticket, two Crooked Stave Pints, and live, local entertainment to kick off the weekend. When you buy a ticket, the proceeds benefit iAM Music, our local non-profit that was created by “artists cultivating conscious creativity, community & empowerment through music.”
Beer, Beer, Run, & More Beer
Even though the registration for the Thirsty 13 Half Marathon is full, or even if you hate running, this event is still one you’ll want to go to. Why? The San Juan Brewfest (here’s our take on last year’s Brewfest). After the race, there will be 50 breweries at Buckley Park in Downtown Durango to help quench the thirst of all the runners and even the bystanders, from 1-5pm. Over 100 beers and live music for the entire afternoon, with the headliner The Yawpers from Denver, this beer, running, and live music combo is a sure way to continue the weekend.
