The Weekender // September

Temperatures are decreasing, but the fun is still here! There’s never a lack of opportunity here in Durango, whether you’re looking for tunes, food, festivals, or fund raising. Whatever it is that you’re feeling this weekend, there’s plenty of it to go around, and we have laid it out for you right here. Have an awesome weekend, folks!

Banjos, Grub, and Beer

Six Dollar String Band at 11th Street Station

Playing and singing for over 6 years, the Six Dollar String Band is coming to 11th Street Station this Friday night at 7pm to give you your weekly dose of string band music. Fiddles, bass, guitars, claw hammers and banjos, the Six Dollar String Band will be bringing all of your favorite instruments! While they perform at 11th Street Station, you can go into the bar at Ernie’s or grab some grub from one of the food stands. Food & banjos, is there anything else you to kick off the weekend?

Car Shows & Casinos

10th Annual Car Show at Sky Ute Casino Resort

If the Four Corners Motorcycle Rally didn’t rev your engine enough, you’re in luck. Sky Ute Casino Resort is hosting their Annual Car Show this Saturday from 8:30am-3pm. There are 20 categories to participate in, including People’s Choice and Best Show. Registration starts at 8:30am, and the first 150 entries will receive a free gift bag! Head on over to either enter your vehicle or admire all of the cars.

Raise funds for Science, Wolves, and Music

Three unique opportunities to give back to our community

It’s that time of year to start admiring what you’re thankful for and start giving back. This weekend, the Durango area is providing you with three different events to do just that. At the PowerFall Ball hosted at the Powerhouse Science Center, you can attend to celebrate the four honorees who have persevered in the “fields of science, technology, engineering, math and education.” Buying a ticket makes you a donor to the Powerhouse Science Center! At the Wine & Art & Wolves event, you can support the Wolfwood Refuge by attending the night filled with specialty wines, wolves, and an art auction at Four Leaves! If you’d like to support two local businesses in one event, go to the Escape Room Tournament at Conundrum Escape Rooms that benefits Music in the Mountains. A tournament, food, music, and locally-donated prizes are all on the table! Regardless of the event you choose (or maybe you’ll go to all of them!), know that you’ll be giving back right into our community.

If you're interested in more events going on this weekend, or next week, or even next month, check out one of these calendars:
