4 Spring (Fun)draising Events This Week
So you want to 'get involved,' but you'd rather party with your community than just donate money? These four upcoming events put the FUN in fundraising, inviting you to give back while you get down. Clear your schedule and grab your checkbooks. Rally your friends and family. It's time to get your charity game on!
Trails + Ales Party: Trails 2000 at Carver Brewing Company. 1022 Main Ave. Wednesday, April 26, 2017, 4:30pm till 7:30pm. Grab a pint and a bowl of chili while you mix and mingle with fellow trail nuts, donors, and new and renewing members of nonprofit Trails 2000. Presented by local sponsor First National Bank, this annual fundraiser features a silent auction, swag, and a special showing of "Sharing Trails: Durango, Colorado." For anyone who joins, renews or gives at least $20, enjoy a complimentary beer or root beer or glass of wine, your choice of veggie or meat chili, and some tasty Rocky Mountain Chocolates. The first 40 attendees to donate receive a Carver's t-shirt or souvenir beer glass. Trails 2000 also invites volunteers to join them on Project Sky Steps, a town-to-sky stairway connecting Durango to the Fort Lewis College campus. Project Sky Steps takes place on Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout April and May. For more information, please visit trails2000.org.

Bowl for Kids Sake! Big Brothers Big Sisters of SW Colorado. Sky Ute Casino Resort & Rolling Thunder Lanes. Saturday, April 29, 2017, 9am till 5pm. Gather a team of five or six, raise some money, and start bowling! No entry fee required for BBBS's largest national fundraiser that raises over $20-million annually. BBBS suggests a fundraising goal of $625 per team, but the sky is the limit! Raise money via email, door-to-door, bake sales, events, or whatever else you can come up with. One-hundred-percent of the money raised through BFKS stays right here in our community, helping to match kids (Littles) with adult mentors (Bigs) and ultimately changing lives. Event expenses are underwritten by corporate sponsors. You and your team will receive two free games of bowling (shoe and ball rental included!), a BFKS t-shirt, food, drinks, and chances to win door prizes. Don't forget to say thank you to anyone who donates their time or money to this fabulous organization. And watch those gutter balls!
