September Happenings // 2021
Welcome to another month, Durango! I don’t know about you, but this summer of 2021 has FLOWN by! As fall approaches, the mornings get colder and the leaves begin to change, I think it’s time to finish an epic summer out with a BANG! As always, here are the best events happening all month long, so mark your calendars and join in on the fun. EVERY Thursday: Geeks Who Drink Trivia if you’re a bit of a nerd when it comes to trivia AND you like to put down some drinks after work, then this event is for you.
September 9th: Turquoise in America Learn the history behind this beautiful blue stone that has become a prominent staple in American jewelry and western fashion.
September 9th: Ska- BQ! Nothing pairs more perfectly with each other than a cold Mexican Logger from Ska Brewing and some BBQ. Catch the festivities every Thursday in the month of September. Don’t forget there will be live music!
September 9th - 12th: Unison Fest All together now! Unison fest symbolizes the art of music, dance and people coming together as one.
September 10th: iAM Music Fest Pop-Up Fashion Show Get ready to see some strutting on the catwalk! All proceeds go towards the iAM Music Fest Organization.
September 11th- 12th: Whole Expo For those wanting to explore the inward makings of oneself, this event is for you!
September 11th: Lake Nighthorse Triathlon A true triathlon-- compete if you dare, or just watch and cheer on your favorite competitors. This triathlon consists of a 750 meter swim, 12.5 mile bike ride along the dirt road at Lake Nighthorse and a 3.1 mile run/sprint to the finish line!
September 11th: Concert on the Hill A benefit concert at Chapman Hill Ice Rink! All the proceeds go towards the Durango Youth Hockey program.
September 11th: Still House Junkies playing @ Animas City Theatre …. Need I say more? Go jam out with one of Durango’s favorite bands!
September 11th - 12th: Fall Festival on the Farm Unplugged and fun! Bring the whole family and pick out your favorite pumpkins to put on your front porch.
September 14th: Men in Heels Relay Race Yes, these men are actually SPRINTING in high heels. All proceeds go towards The Women’s Resource Center and the Gena Rych Scholarship Fund. Come out and enjoy the fun and be sure to donate to a great cause.
September 16th - 19th: Telluride Blues & Brews Festival Bluegrass music, good beer, beautiful mountains, great people and an unforgettable weekend in the making.
September 17th: Fall Gallery Walk featuring Bryce Pettit Be sure to check out the latest art expo at Sorel Sky!
September 17th: Silverton Summer Sounds Music Series Don’t miss the last opportunity of the summer to listen to good music in the beautiful mountain town that is Silverton, Colorado.
September 17th: iAM Music Fest @ The Distillery The iAM Music Festival continues at the Distillery-- don’t miss out on the perfect way to close out summer 2021.
September 18th: Squid Tribute Show
September 18th - 19th: Durango Autumn Arts Fest The 27th Annual Durango Autumn Arts Festival is back! Peruse along East 2nd Ave. and admire the local artists.
September 21st: Concerts in the Plaza! Say goodbye to summer and hello to fall with a live music performance in the plaza in Three Springs by Kirk James.
September 22nd: First Day of FALL!
September 23rd: Pickin’ on the Plaza Come out and celebrate the Powerhouse Science Center’s 10th anniversary.
September 24th: 25th Annual Radiothon Bid on prizes while listening to your favorite local radio stations! All proceeds benefit the local nonprofits in the four corners area.
September 25th: Mountain Marmot Trail Run Run, run, run as fast as you can!
September 25th: Walk to End Alzheimer’s A good cause that the whole family can partake in.
September 25th: Harvest Party The first EVER harvest at the Happy Apple Orchard. Live music and a bonfire-- I’m sold.
September 25th: Local’s First Harvest Dinner The Local Harvest Dinner is back! Hurry and get your tickets now and celebrate the community and the local harvest!
September 25th: National Drive Electric Event What’s all the hype about electric cars these days? Go check em’ out at the La Plata County Fairgrounds.
September 30th: Durango Green Drinks How do we live more sustainably? Check it out at 11th Street Station-- have a beer, hang out and walk away having learned something new about green living.
September 30th - Oct 3rd: TICO Time Country Festival 2021 Break out the cowboy boots for an epic local lineup of artists at the TICO Time Country Festival!
