Go play in some water at the Animas River, head on up to the mountains for a spectacularly scenic hike that will take your breath away or simply mosey on down to historic main street and take in the amazingly culturally diverse Durango, Colorado. The Opposite of a Chainsaw Massacre... Carve Wars @ Purgatory Mountain Resort


Proudly presented by Ace Hardware is the annual Carve Wars event! Talented artists will take their time creating art out of nothing but a log and using no other tools other than a CHAINSAW! These artists will be competing for awards and prizes and you can watch these amazingly talented individuals make something ordinary into something extraordinary. Carving officially begins on Friday, August 7th at 9am and will continue until Sunday, August 9th at 2pm in which you can bid to purchase your favorite carving at the auction!

Unbridled Opening Ceremony of Tony Stromberg @ Sorrel Sky Gallery 


The oh-so talented and mesmerizing Tony Stromberg will have his work proudly displayed at the Sorrel Sky art Gallery starting on Friday, August 7th! The opening ceremony will commence at 5pm and go on until 7pm. If you love horses, this is seriously something you need to go check out! Stromberg captures the beauty, grace and peacefulness of these large majestic animals. Stromberg’s Unbridled series of art work will be on display at the Sorrel Sky Gallery until the end of the month, August 31st. So if you can’t make it to the opening ceremony, be sure to go check it out before month’s end!

Calling All Animal Lovers to the Bow Wow Film Festival Proudly Presented by the La Plata County Humane Society 


Who doesn’t want to support their local animal shelter? Due to COVID restrictions, the La Plata County Humane Society is doing everything they can to raise money for the animal shelter to help the furry little guys in need! Participate in the Bow Wow Film Festival to help out! This festival is online and features multiple films about working with rescued or endangered animals! You can partake in this festival at any point between Friday, August 7th at 6pm to midnight on Friday, August 21st. Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased HERE
