The Weekender // February 7th - 9th, 2020
Happy weekend Durangatangs-- and it’s an exciting weekend in the making! With February comes more snow in the forecast, a plethora of shades of pink and red flooding the local shops and more freezing temperatures that might make you want to move to Florida-- I know I do. Yet, Durango still remains the ultimate hub for fun activities that will make you never want to leave our cozy town, even in the winter! Luckily for us, Durango is the best spot for all forms of entertainment for those of us who would rather either wait out the cold indoors, or for everyone who wants to go explore our winter-wonderland playground. This weekend, Durango is kicking off the month with some awesome events that support local outreach programs in the community! As always, we have all the information that you will need to participate. So bundle up, get involved and enjoy your weekend!
All is Fair...in Love of Art and Beer -
Friday, 5pm - 8pm
The 2020 Durango Independent Film Festival is just around the corner and we all know what that means-- new beer release from Ska! The Durango Independent Film Festival is running on its 15th year of operation and proudly supports local independent film artists from the area while giving them the platform to show off their amazing work! Join us at the Malbec Stout beer release party at Ska Brewing. This stout is smooth and toasty with a little bit of spice and everything nice! Dark chocolate and sweet blackberry flavors will be sure to impress your tastebuds. Try it out this weekend and we will be sure to see you drinking it in March at the festival!
All is Fair... in Love and Prom Night -
Friday, 6pm - 9pm
The Tim Tebow Foundation sponsors A Night to Shine in over 700 different churches around the country. Hosted by the River Church this year, A Night to Shine is just another way of how community-based our little mountain town is! This event is for those 14 years and older who have special needs and want to experience a magical prom night! This is an unforgettable night that the whole community takes part in--- making it a truly wonderful atmosphere for these young adults to enjoy.
All is Fair... in Love, Crafts and BBQ -
Saturday, 10am - 3pm
Valentine’s Day is in one week! If you haven’t gotten your special someone a little something yet, now is the perfect time to do it while supporting the Women’s Resource Center! There will be 18 vendors at this event selling unique gifts for your Valentine. When you get tired from walking and shopping, don’t worry, there will be BBQ! This is the first ever Heart and Soul craft fair-- and who wouldn’t want to take part in something that is happening for the very first time? This craft fair is over at the Oxford Grange Hall, in between Durango and Ignacio.
