This weekend, the highs are nearing 94 degrees in Durango. Hello, mid-summer heat! While you’re fighting the urge to find air conditioning yet simultaneously enjoying the great outdoors, make sure to check out some local events. This weekend continues with classical music encores, community block parties, and local live music.
Fun for the Whole Family
The whole block is coming together tonight! Join the Town of Bayfield for their monthly Block Party that raises funds for local causes. With beer, live music, dancing, food, and vendor booths, there’s something for everyone! Tonight, the Block Party will be featuring live music from Alchemy Jack. Bing your lawn chairs, and join the block.
"Overture to The Magic Flute"
Southwest Colorado’s premier classical musical festival, Music in the Mountains, continues this weekend by bringing in more musicians of the highest caliber. This Sunday night at 5:30pm, make your way to the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College for musical selections including Mozart, Shostakovich, and Tchaikovsky. This concert is played by the Music in the Mountains festival orchestra and features pianist Elizabeth Joy Roe, Kyle Sherman on the trumpet, and conductor Gillermo Figueroa.
Local & Live Music
Looking for a way to dance on Saturday? Or maybe enjoy local food and local art! Head to 11th Street Station starting at 5pm this Saturday night for the continuation of the iAM MUSIC Fest Summer Concert Series! This weekend’s lineup features J-Calvin, Mesquite, Boogie Mammoth, as well as iAM MUSIC student performers. The Secret Circus Society will have interactive performances with the music. Grab a beer from Ernie’s, a local meal from a food truck, and dance the night away!
