What’s up Durango?! We finally made it to another weekend in our beloved mountain town and with summer coming in full swing, you can bet there are so many events piling up and ready to launch. As always, live music is everywhere in town, so take your pick when you’re strolling main street this weekend-- just follow the sound! It’s going to be another hot one this weekend so grab the SPF and your swimsuits and spend the day on the Animas River, or at Lake Nighthorse! Don’t forget that this Sunday is Father’s Day, so be sure to spend some time with dad. Further, as always, we want to deliver on our picks of fun events for the weekend that we think you won’t want to miss-- check it out!

   

   

 

Bring the popcorn and blankets … Durango’s Movie in the Park @ Durango Parks and Rec 

FRIDAY FROM 8:30 PM - 10:00PM

Join in on the fun with a movie in the park! Durango is featuring movies in the park all summer long-- it’s the perfect way to get the kids out and enjoy some family time. This Friday, Frozen II  will be screening at the Durango Community Recreation Center’s lawn from 8:30 PM - 10 PM. Bring out the blankets, chairs and snacks if you wish and enjoy Durango’s makeshift outdoor theatre that the whole family can participate in. Popcorn and beverages will also be available for purchasing!

Oh Play Me that MOUNTAIN Music… Silverton Summer Sounds Music Series @ Silverton’s Columbine Park, Silverton, CO 

FRIDAY ALL DAY

Can you think of anything better than spending the weekend in the mountains while also listening to some live music? I know I can’t! This year the town of Silverton is featuring the return of their Silverton Summer Sounds of Music happening all summer long! So if you’re riding the train up there, spending the day there on Friday or you’re headed north for the weekend to escape the heat, this is right up your alley. If you don’t have the time to make it this Friday, don’t worry! This event is recurring every 3rd Friday of the month for the entirety of summer. Sit back, relax and enjoy the views while listening to some REAL mountain music.

A Little Something for Dad… The Father’s Day Bike Show @ The Powerhouse Science Center

SATURDAY FROM 9:30 AM - 4:00PM

With all the excitement and activities going on around town this weekend, be sure not to forget about good ole dad! This Sunday is Father’s Day and what better way to show dad you appreciate him by taking him over to the Powerhouse Science Center for The Father’s Day Bike Show?! Enter dad’s or your bike to win one of four prize categories including: best vintage bikes, best mountain bikes, best road bikes and of course, the most unique bike.

May We Always Remember...Juneteenth Celebration @ Rotary Park 

SATURDAY FROM 2:00PM - 4:00PM

Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom we should always remember. Therefore, Durango is taking the time on Saturday afternoon to celebrate the liberation of enslaved African Americans of the United States that took place almost a century and a half ago! Join in on the celebration at Rotary Park on Saturday from 2 PM to 4PM.
