March is here, and so is the weekend (finally)! And lucky for you, this weekend is jam-packed with plenty of events to help you celebrate! The long-awaited Independent Film Festival has returned, and the annual YPOD Member Appreciation party is going down at Four Leaves Winery. There’s even a Snowblower Race! Yes, you read that right, a race with literal snowblowers. So grab your gloves, and get ready for another great weekend in Durango!
YPOD Party of the Year - Friday, March 1st
Calling all Young Professionals of Durango! Due to the blasts of snow we’ve been getting, the YPOD Member Appreciation Party has been rescheduled to this Friday. Meet up and mingle with other members at the Four Leaves Winery. This event is totally free for all YPOD members and everyone gets two free drink tickets! What could be better than free wine? The event officially starts at 6pm, but members have been known to show up early to have more time to socialize. This appreciation party is a great way for members to get more involved, socialize, and meet the new board of directors. This event is ideal for all YPOD members who love wine and good conversation.

Old Chore New Sport - Saturday, March 2nd
We know you’ve been building up your snowblower skills the past few weeks. Now it’s time to put all of those hours of hard work to the test. After getting dumped with over 6-feet of snow, the Vallecito Lake Event Center had to get creative on how to move it. A video of a snowblower race has been circling the internet, giving Vallecito Lake the idea to host their first ever Snowblower Race! The event is BYOB (bring your own blower) and is totally free to enter and watch. There will be prizes and a whole lot of fun! If you choose to watch, be sure to stand back, the first few rows will get snow! After the race, be sure to head inside the Vallecito Lake Event Center for their monthly Social and Potluck. This event is great for those who are ready to put the hours and hours of snow blowing to good use!

Durango Film Returns - Friday - Sunday, March 1st - 3rd
The Durango Independent Film Festival is back for its 14th year bringing our town tales of adventure and moving documentaries. You can check out the entire list of showings and events here on their website, but we’ve got the mini guide on the can’t miss shows. For the rom-com lovers, we’d recommend “Electric Love”, a modern take on romance and how technology has shaped and affected love. If you’re a pizza lover (honestly who isn’t) we’d recommend you check out, “8 Slices” the story of a struggling small town pizza restaurant and their employees as they begin to question the American dream. And finally, for all the documentary junkies out there, we think “Letter from Masanjia”, the tale of an SOS letter sent from a political prisoner that makes its way to Oregon is a can’t miss film. The Durango Independent Film Festival is great for all movie and film lovers who like to experience new stories.
