Spooky season has arrived! This weekend, Durango is celebrating big. All around town you’ll find family-friendly celebrations and opportunities to throw on your costume (parents, you too!). Whether you’d like to ride your bike, boogie on some skates, bowl, or take a trip to Durango’s dark past, you can do all of the above in costume this weekend. Seriously, Durango, we love you. Get ready for fright, folks!
Ghosts on Bikes! - TONIGHT, 4-6pm
The 12th annual Halloween Bike Parade & Celebration is tonight! Everyone is invited to show up to the Durango Rec Center with costumes and bikes to parade down the Animas River Trail all the way to the Powerhouse Science Center. For younger riders (think Pre-K!), meet at Rotary Park. All children must be accompanied by an adult, but Devo coaches will be on the trail to supervise the parade. Once you make it to the Powerhouse, there will be trick or treating, family activities, games, ice cream, food, and fun! Proceeds from a silent auction and raffle will go to support local DEVO riders as well as the intern program at The Powerhouse.
Zombies on Skates! - Friday, 7:30-9pm
Looking for the perfect way to show off your costume? Look no further. On Friday night, head to Chapman Hill for a costume contest on skates! Get ready to boogie into spooky season. Admission for adults is $7 and youth is $6, plus grab a pair of skates for $3.
Spooktacular Family Fun - Saturday, 11am-2pm
Your favorite fall fest activities are making a comeback at Three Springs! Trick or treating, live music, festival games, a pumpkin patch, and more! Free event parking is available, so make sure to follow signs that will guide you. Plus: download the coloring book page for a chance to win a prize! Three Springs will award 1 winner every 30 minutes.
Frankenstein Goes Bowling - Saturday, 9-11:30am, Costume Contest 8:30pm
Get unlimited bowling for 2 hours, plus a $3 discount when you wear your Halloween costume! Pay $15 per person with no costume, and $12 per person with a costume! Show up in your best family-friendly Halloween costumes for the costume contest at 8:30pm. Costume categories include most original and best couple.
Real Life Spooky Season - Saturday, 7-9pm
Halloween is great and all, but are you ever eager for real life scares? Horsefly History Tours is offering a Halloween themed ghost tour of Durango! Starting at the Rochester Hotel, this tour goes all the way down Main Avenue through your favorite stops that may or may not have a gruesome history. You’ll have to join the tour to learn about the ghosts of Durango and the 1890’s era tunnel...
