The Weekender // Jan 17th - 19th
Deep turns, apres ski, the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage, and steaks at the lake. Have we caught your attention, sparked plans? Don’t thank us, thank the Durango area for hosting events that make you never want to leave our cozy piece of the mountains. All we did was let you know they were there. Now, in true Durangatang fashion, go out and have the best winter weekend.
Apres Ski, the Right Way- Friday, 4-7pm
The San Juans are getting snow today and through the night, making for a (hopefully) solid pow day tomorrow. If you’ve been aching for more snow to shred, tomorrow is you chance! Head up to Purgatory to get your turns in. As you’re making your way back down into town after a solid day of shredding, stop by The Nugget Mountain Bar for the ultimate Apres Ski. DJ Brap will be spinning tunes, beer will be flowing ($2 PBR draft pints all day), and the Backcountry Gourmet sliders will be hot and ready. Mhhmmmm.
Calling all Ladies and Lady Lovers! Saturday, 11am
Let’s give one big virtual round of applause for this world’s incredible women. If you’re ready to give a physical round of applause, we’ll one up you with a parade. Saturday at 10:30am, the women of Durango, and all those in support, will be gathering at the train station to march to Buckley Park for the 100th anniversary of women’s right to vote. With speakers, warm drinks, and enthusiasm, this parade is expected to bring an aura of celebration to our mountain town, as well as a display of commitment to democracy and equality. All are welcome to join the parade and celebrate women suffrage!
Steaks at the Lake- Saturday, 5-9pm
As we’re in the dead of winter, it can be easy to hunker down in your home and never leave the warmth. If you’re looking for a way to leave the house, but maintain that warmth, here’s your answer. Fur Trappers Steakhouse at Vallecito Lake is offering lake views, warmth, delicious steaks and drinks, and live music bound to soothe. Enjoy the perfect winter meal amidst stellar and snowy views while still feeling enveloped in warmth.
