Durango Fall Cleanup 2022

Durango Fall Cleanup 2022

Fall of 2022 is officially here and with that comes the most dreaded household chore ever– yardwork. Whether you have tree branches in need of trimming, leaves and pine cones that are in need of raking or you have some extra materials laying around from summer projects, the CIty of Durango is ready to help you out! The Durango fall cleanup is a little different than the spring cleanup that happens annually in April as the city will only be accepting yard-related things. As in don’t throw your old mattress on the street for someone to come collect– trust us, it will be sitting there all winter long if you do! Here are a couple things you need to know about the Durango Fall Cleanup 2022 including materials that will be accepted, what household will be able to participate, when and where to place materials and the neighborhood pickup schedule by date.

Accepted Materials

  • Tree trimmings and branches less than 8 feet in length and less than 8 inches in diameter - click here for Colorado Forest Service pruning recommendations
  • Bagged or boxed loose brush and leaves
  • No other waste will be collected

Who Can Participate?

Only residents who pay for city trash service (households with a single trash container) are eligible to participate in Fall Cleanup. Fall Cleanup is provided by the City of Durango’s Streets Division and is paid for by the fee collected on residents’ monthly utility bills.

Material placed by those who are not eligible or material placed outside a designated area/time is considered illegal dumping. If you observe or suspect illegal dumping in your neighborhood, please report it at (970) 385-2900.

When and Where to Place Materials

Place materials where you place your trash cans in the alley for collection, or curbside in areas of town where there are no alleys.

Residents may place items out up to one week prior to scheduled pick up. In order to make sure your items are collected, please make sure all items are placed out by the day before your scheduled pickup week. Once crews collect along the designated pickup area, they will not return.
