The Pine River Library is proud to be hosting an exhibition of art by Bayfield High Schoolers from the classroom of Kathleen Neal. The multimedia works of over 30 artists will be on display until the end of the March, with a special artists’ reception on Thursday, March 9 from 5:30-6:30 PM.

Revel in Play: seize the moment features all new abstract paintings by Durango local artist, Heather Freeman. The opening reception is Friday, January 27th 5-8pm at Stillwater Music’s new art and performance venue. This event is in partnership with Durango Creative District’s Incubator for Emerging Artists and is available for viewing from January 27 - March 31, 2023.

Join us as author Shelley Read shares from her debut novel, Go As A River. Set amid the beauty and wilderness of the Colorado mountains, an unforgettable and deeply moving story of a young woman who follows her heart.Seventeen-year-old Victoria Nash runs the household on her family's peach farm in the small ranch town of Iola, Colorado--the sole surviving female in a family of troubled men. Wilson Moon is a young drifter with a mysterious past, displaced from his tribal land but determined to live as he chooses.Victoria encounters Wil by chance on a street corner, profoundly altering both of their young lives, unknowingly igniting as much passion as danger. Shelley Read is a fifth generation Coloradoan who lives with her family in the Elk Mountains of the Western Slope. She was a Senior Lecturer at Western Colorado University for nearly three decades, where she taught writing, literature, environmental studies, and Honors, and was a founder of the Environment & Sustainability major and a support program for first-generation and at-risk students. Shelley holds degrees in writing and literary studies from the University of Denver and Temple University's Graduate Program in Creative Writing. She is a regular contributor to Crested Butte Magazine and Gunnison Valley Journal, and has written for the Denver Post and a variety of publications.

In honor of Irish traditional music, On The Lash creates timeless sounds through original voices.
With new takes on classic songs and original constructions of established standards, OTL aims
to explore the inherent energy and versatility of the genre. Getting their start playing in the
nationally recognized folk band The Founding, this compact ensemble delivers a high caliber
performance worthy of the big stage. During their time in The Founding these musicians have
traveled coast to coast, performing at the Yachats Celtic Festival in Oregon, the Austin Celtic
Festival, the Boston Irish Festival, the Michigan Irish Music Festival, and many more. Now,
within On The Lash’s first year on stage, they will be making appearances across the Midwest
and beyond at venues in MI, IN, PA, DE, MD, and VA. Their recorded works include The
Founding’s award-winning album Form. (2017), as well OTL’s new single Dog in the Distance
(2022)
